My sister-in-law did a welcome at our wedding and I love it. It touches on all the special places in our lives and tells a story, I wanted to share it to let you know, whoever and wherever you are, you are welcome here.

Welcome to Christchurch, to the Canterbury region. Welcome to Torlesse, Craigieburn and Big Ben Ranges. Welcome to Mt Torlesse, Back Peak and Otarama. To the Malvern Hills and foothills of Russells Flat, to the northern and southern banks of the Waimakariri River, the Waimakariri Gorge, the upper reaches of the Selwyn River, the Kowhai and Hawkins Rivers. To the sky above, the domain of the Norwest and Southerly winds. To Sheffield and Springfield, to the United States of America, and to Charlottesville, Virginia. Tena koutou, tēnā koutou, tena koutou katoa. Welcome, welcome to you all.

A bit about me

I’m originally from America (Charlottesville, Virginia) but have called New Zealand home since 2014. My husband, son, labrador and I live in Canterbury and love all that it has to offer - hills, rivers, ocean all at our fingertips making it a photographer's dream landscape. I’ve always considered myself a creative person and fizzed over art class. My grandmother had a formal wear store in my hometown and from a young age I remember being mesmerised by the brides coming into her shop to find their dream wedding dress. The two worlds collided just after my wedding in 2019, my dear friend Sophie photographed our wedding and inspired/encouraged me to follow my passion.

I’m a go with the flow kind of person but equally love a schedule. I love a party but am so happy on the farm with my family too. My school reports consistently noted “Finley has trouble talking in class” and it’s true, I love talking to people and hearing their story. I’ve lived lots of lives - I’ve been a suiting specialist at a high end menswear store in America, I’ve sold and fitted wedding dresses, I still work at a law firm part time and I’m very well versed in all things wedding related.

I love all weddings, colour/neutral, country/city, modern/traditional - my criteria is that you are in love, desperately want to be married and want to throw a damn good party while doing it. I think my style reflects your day really - I hand edit each image in your gallery and spend hours making sure your photos are “you”. I photograph all your details, if your grandma has sewn something special in your dress or you’ve hand selected coupe-shaped champagne flutes. I get all of it because I know what goes in to the planning and all of those details you’ve agonised over are so special.

So lets grab a drink and chat about all those details - I can’t wait to meet you. x
